What is prayer and how can I use it in my
life?
Students are introduced to regular prayer time, including meditative prayer. What is this book called the Bible? Students explore New Testament stories. They will listen to, read and view stories about Jesus in the Gospels that tell of Jesus' life as a Jew. What is Easter and how is it important to us? Students are introduced to the resurrection narratives. |
How does the Church community celebrate?
Children observe ways in which believers pray together during special celebrations. They learn about the church building as a sacred place for believers and the bible as a sacred book for believers. |
How can we
know about God?
Students investigate where stories in the Bible were proclaimed. They develop characters, events and messages from key OT stories. |
How can we be more like Jesus?
Students will further explore how God created people with the freedom to choose, and how this is reflected in our choices. Students will develop a sense of 'waiting' and preparing' and investigate the seasons of Advent and Christmas. |
Year 1
How can I be still and listen and talk to God?
An introduction to praying with particular emphasis on meditative prayer and its place in the season of lent. How does the Jesus’ story speak to me today? An historical and scriptural investigation of the person we know as Jesus. From his birth to his resurrection. |
Why is the Church
important to us?
An inside /outside look at the church both her people and her buildings. Belonging to the church and the community celebrations of Baptism and Eucharist and their links to the liturgical year from Easter to Pentecost. |
How do
the stories of the past tell us about God?
God is creator and sustainer of life and all
people have a responsibility to care for creation. Students explore key people
in the Old Testament stories. Morality is about living in accordance with God’s
plan for creation. God’s gift of the freedom to make choices is to be used
responsibly.

How do we remember Mary?
We remember Our Lady of the Rosary our school patron. And identify ways believers past and present have honoured Mary and gain an understanding of the language, purpose and context of the Hail Mary. How are the Infancy Narratives important to us? Students explore the birth of Jesus and the importance of Christmas. |
Year 2
How can we talk and listen to God?
Communication and relationship with God is enhanced by regular prayer and opportunities for meditative prayer. Why are stories of the Old and New Testament still important now? Story telling are part of our traditions and by reading and retelling Bible stories, the students understand the life and times of Jesus in the context of the era they were lived. |
What does it look like to really say sorry?
Students explore the concept of forgiveness and reconciliation, making links to their own lives, church sacraments and Indigenous perspectives. What would life be like if I grew up in Jesus’ family?
Students explore contextual information about the first century Mediterranean world, to better appreciate the life and times of Jesus. |
How
are we called to be creators in our world today?
Students recognise the sacredness of God and all creation. They explore messages from the wisdom of the saints such as St Francis, St Clare, St Therese of Lisieux and Mary MacKillop that inspire them to respond to the call to be co-creators and stewards of God’s creation. The Creation- who cares? website is available as a resource for teachers and students. |
God's Special Covenant
Students explore the idea of "covenant" as they listen to the story of Abraham and Sarah. Using the Jesse Tree as a guide, they follow the stories of the Old Testament that lead to the birth of Jesus. |
