Year 5
Build an Orrery
Students follow the design-make-appraise process to construct a 3D model that explains the relative movement of planets in the Solar System. |
Periscope Project
Students design a periscope to see around a corner. They consider how modifications to a basic design can enhance the usefulness of a product. |
Bushfire Management
Students investigate how people designing fire safety equipment and systems address competing considerations, including sustainability in the design of products, services and environments for current and future use. |
Use and Influence of Science & Technology
Students investigate characteristics and properties of a range of materials, systems, components, tools and equipment and evaluate the impact of their use |
Year 6
Butcher, baker, candlestick maker
Students investigate how people in various occupations address competing considerations, including health and safety and sustainability. They determine why food and fibre are produced in managed environments and investigate the role of food preparation in maintaining good health. |
|
So you want to be a Seismologist?
Students design and construct a simple seismometer to model the way that seismologists measure the magnitude of earthquakes. |
Electrical Circuits
Students investigate how electrical energy can control movement, sound or light in a design product or system. Senior musical Students apply their design and technology skills to design sets, lighting and costumes and organise the elements of the musical. They justify the use of materials and systems chosen. |
