Geography
In Years 5 & 6 approximately 20 hours of teaching time is allocated to Geography per semester. This semester allocation may be spread across one or two terms at the discretion of the teaching team.

Save one island, save them all
Through an analysis of One Small Island by Alison Lester and Coral Tulloch, students explore the impact of human factors on the environment of Macquarie Island. Students will take action by identifying a local environment that has experienced significant negative changes due to human actions, and presenting a case for saving or protecting it. |
Bushfires & Floods
Students investigate the impact of natural disasters on environments and communities, and how people can respond |

Europe & North America
Students locate of the major countries of Europe and North America in relation to Australia and the influence of people on the environmental characteristics of places in at least two countries from both continents Christmas up North Students explore European and North American Christmas traditions and consider how the environment has influenced cultural traditions. |
