How did Jesus challenge the world?
Students investigate some Old and New Testament scriptures and explore the connections with Jesus. They connect this to their own lives and the choices they make. Lent/Easter Students focus on Resurrection Narratives to reflect upon the messages that are important to our lives today. |
How can we know what God is like?
Students use Old Testament texts to explore images of God. They investigate why authors chose to present God in different ways. Students learn about psalms and their use in prayers. |
Who are these men in robes and why are they important?
Students investigate the church hierarchy and the role of the Diocese in supporting Parishes. They focus on the Bishop and his role as teacher and leader. Students investigate how our Catholic School is important to the Archdiocese (Catholic Education Week). How is God speaking to us from age to age? Students investigate symbolism, events and people in key Old Testament stories. They explore how books of the OT are linked to the Torah. |
Am I really the body of Christ?
Students explore Initiation Sacraments. They identify words, actions and symbols of the Sacrament of Confirmation. Who is the Messiah and what does the Bible say about Him? Students explore Jesus as Messiah through the New Testament, including the birth of Jesus narrative. |
Year 4
How has the way we pray changed since the time of Jesus?
Students investigate traditional and contemporary prayers. They explore how Jesus prayed and the importance of prayer in Jesus' time. Why are we still talking about and celebrating Easter today? Students explore the Resurrection Narratives and identify key messages for their lives today. |
How can the Church offer people healing?
Students learn about the Sacrament of Healing using parables. They identify and investigate sacraments that are part of the Sacramental Program. |
How do old rules apply to my life today?
Students investigate the Ten Commandments. They develop an understanding of the Beatitudes. Students write their own Green Commandments. How did the Catholic Church grow in Australia - the New Colony? Students investigate and develop an understanding of Early Church History. |
How can we be people of Justice?
Students will investigate and identify the characteristics of people who act and live justly. Case studies will include people of the past and contemporary times. Students will recognise these characteristics within themselves and the impact their actions have on others and the environment. |
